Diego the Dog needs a home

Forever Love Starts with a Wet Nose and Ends with a Tail

HI, I'M DIEGO!  DO YOU LOVE TO SNUGGLE AND PLAY?  ME TOO!

Diego came into rescue January 2015, when he was 1-2 years old.  It seems this sweet boy spent his short life living outdoors at the end of a chain.  Oh, how Diego has blossomed in foster care!  He adores people of all ages, including children, and and absolutely craves attention.  He may be a little too enthusiastic for small children, so care will need to be taken in that regard.  Diego hasn't gotten the memo that he's larger than your average lap dog, as he loves to get as close as possible to snuggle and offer pittie kisses.

This very smart pup will sit, shake, down and rollover on command; we're still working on "stay" and "come."  His leash manners could use some polishing, although a proper harness and additional training will be beneficial.  Diego has excellent car manners and will often nod off in the passenger seat. Toys rock his world and this silly guy is always ready to romp and play.  He'll chase a ball all day long but hasn't gotten the hang of returning it to you just yet.  While Diego shares nicely with humans, he's not inclined to share toys, treats or food with other dogs and may act out in an aggressive manner.  He's housebroken and crate trained in foster care and may just need a refresher course in his new home, as he gets the hang of a new routine.

Diego is open to meeting friendly, submissive dogs but will likely not do well with dogs who make him feel challenged or threatened.  He's not a fan of kitties, so we recommend there be no cats in his home.  If you can offer Diego the exercise, playtime and loving care he craves, he's ready to make your acquaintance.  A fenced yard is would be ideal.  He's had some hard knocks in life, but Diego has shaken off the dust and is ready for his happily-ever-after to begin.

All of the dogs/cats listed are located in or near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Adoption fees are $195 for dogs ($95 for Seniors 8 years+) and $60 for cats, to help cover vet bills for spay/neuter of all adoptable pets as well as getting them up-to-date on their basic vaccinations, and for starting heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.  Puppies and kittens will go into adoptive homes as Foster-to-Adopt until old enough to have spay/neuter surgery.  No pet will be officially adopted without being spayed/neutered and vaccinated (unless there are health risks in doing so).

We will require an approved on-line application which is available on our website at ForeverLoveRescue.com. Be prepared for a Meet-and-Greet and a basic home check to be done on or before adoption day, to ensure that the pet can be safe in the new home and that everyone involved is comfortable with each other.  Please feel free to call 717-900-5525 with any questions, or reach us by email at [email protected].  Be sure to check us out on Facebook at Forever Love Rescue and LIKE? our page.
